The Rolex Submariner is likely the most popular luxury watch in production. It’s certainly the most popular Rolex. This iteration shakes it up a bit.
What is it about the Sub that makes it appear on the wrists of so many people – whether in a boardroom, at the coffee shop, on a beach or at the job site?
I think it’s because the Sub is a timeless (and frequently copied) design, the quality of the Rolex Submariner is top-notch, it has incredible function (you can time with the bezel, you can swim with it, you can read it in a movie theatre) and will hold its value.
Now, the Hulk takes the Sub in a different direction – it replaces the black dial with a green sunburst one, and replaces the black ceramic bezel with a green one.
Rolex fans will know that whenever there is green on a Rolex, something special is going on. The first green Submariner (16610LV) known as the Kermit was released for the Sub’s 50th anniversary. It showcased a green aluminum insert bezel with the traditional black “maxi dial.”
The Hulk is based on the next-gen (6-digit) Submariner when the transition from the aluminum bezel insert to the ceramic bezel took place (among other tweaks).
